Atlantic City Blackjack Rules

After the player places his wager the dealer deals the cards. The player’s two cards are dealt face up. The dealer has the first card dealt face up and the other card dealt face down. If the dealer’s exposed card is an ace then the player can take insurance against the dealer getting a blackjack. The insurance bet has to be half the normal bet. If the dealer has a blackjack then the insurance bet pays out at 2 to 1 and the normal bet is forfeited. If the dealer does not have a blackjack the insurance bet is forfeited. If the dealer’s exposed card is an ace or a 10 value card then the dealer checks for blackjack. If the dealer has a blackjack the player forfeits his bet.

The player has to make his moves according to the following rules. He can double on any two dealt cards. He can also double after a split. The player can split only once so as to make two hands. He cannot re-split. Only one card can be dealt to split aces. A split ace and 10 value card has a value of 21 and is not a blackjack. Unlike 10 value cards can be split.

After the player stands the dealer’s moves are automatically made according to the following rules. The dealer stands on all totals of 16 or less and hits on all totals of 17 or more. If the dealer busts then the player automatically wins. If both the dealer and the player have valid hands then the totals are compared and the one whose total is closer to 21 wins. If the totals are the same there is a tie. The player winning with a blackjack gets paid out at 3 to 2. Any other win for the player results in a payout of even money. In case of tied hands the player is returned his original bet. If the dealer wins then the player loses his bet.

Cryptologic online casinos allow players to wager on Atlantic City Blackjack using Auto Play. Players can activate the Auto Strategy feature, which implies that all moves are made as per the strategy card built into the software. The default strategy card ensures that the moves will be optimum and therefore the player will get the highest average payout ratios. However the strategy card can be edited as per the player’s requirements. There are some minor differences in the rules prevalent in Microgaming online casinos. Players can re-split hands and can surrender late. Microgaming does not provide the Auto Play feature in Atlantic City Blackjack.
