Super Fun 21 – also known as Blackjack Super Fun 21, or Super Fun Blackjack 21 – is a popular casino variant that can be found at many live and online casinos. It’s a game of tradeoffs for the player; blackjacks only pay even money, but there are tons of other rules that work in the player’s advantage, and many bonus payouts on certain hands.
How to Play Super Fun Blackjack 21
If you’re familiar with the rules of blackjack you’ll be able to play Super Fun 21. Everything works similarly to the standard blackjack game; players have the same options, the dealer follows the same rules (except that they typically hit on a soft 17), and you’ll still bust if you go over 21.
But while the actions you take might be the same, the actual rules and payouts vary considerably from standard blackjack. First of all, most of the best rules in standard blackjack games are in play here, including:
- Players can resplit to up to four hands.
- Players can play split aces as normal hands, including resplitting, doubling down, or hitting.
- Players can take a late surrender at any time.
In addition, there are a few new rules that also work in the player’s favor when doubling down. The player may double down on any number of cards, and the player can choose to surrender half of their bet after doubling down.
Still want more? Super Fun 21 also gives the player a huge number of ways to win beyond the typical “beat the dealer” rules in regular blackjack. Along with player blackjacks always winning automatically (though at even money), and hand of 21 points consisting of 5 cards or more automatically pays 2-1 instantly (except after doubling down). If you make a hand of 20 or less using six cards or more, you’ll again win instantly, though the exception after doubling down still applies. Finally, there’s one more bonus payout available; although player blackjacks normally pay out even money, a blackjack in diamonds pays out 2-1.
Super Fun Blackjack 21 Strategy
Generalizing about Super Fun 21 strategy is very dangerous. There are tons of different factors to consider, and given the bonuses involved when you have a hand of several cards, your correct play with a two-card hand can be very different than the same play with a five-card hand of the same value. The correct plays also vary depending on the number of decks being used, which could be anywhere between one and six.
If you want to learn the ins and outs of Super Fun 21, the best way to do so is by using a chart that outlines the best play in every situation. Many such charts are available; our favorites come from The Wizard of Odds, though many other sites and books have published great charts as well.
If you play with optimal strategy, the house edge in Super Fun Blackjack 21 is very reasonable; depending on the number of decks being used, it can range from 1.16% to 1.40%.
